By Isabella Libreros, PR & Communications Assistant at Arco Design + Build On May 1st, Boston’s Newbury Street welcomed collectors, designers, and members of the city’s creative community for the opening of Gravity is Optional, the newest solo exhibition by contemporary artist Brendan Murphy at Pellas Gallery.
Known for championing artists with bold perspectives and cultural relevance, Pellas Gallery presented an immersive collection of Murphy’s latest works – pieces that balance vibrant visual energy with emotional depth. Through layered symbolism, expressive text, and his recognizable “Boonji” figures, Murphy explores themes of identity, human connection, and the tension between chaos and clarity in modern life.
The evening felt both intimate and electric. Guests moved through the gallery engaging not only with the artwork itself, but with the larger dialogue it created around emotion, communication, and contemporary culture. Murphy’s presence added another dimension to the experience, offering visitors a personal connection to the evolving vision behind his work.
