Not in the sense of simply knowing where to stay or what to book, but in knowing how to look. When to follow the recommendation, when to ignore it, when to take the long way, and when to let curiosity lead you somewhere you had no intention of finding.
Travel has been one of the great passions of my life. After more than 78 countries, it has become the place where so many of the things I love converge: art, fashion, food, culture, friendship, beauty, and the endlessly fascinating ways people choose to live.
I am far less interested in checking off the obvious than I am in discovering what gives a place its pulse – the table worth asking for, the atelier behind an unmarked door, the dish locals actually order, the ritual that happens before the city wakes, the experience that feels impossible to replicate anywhere else.
I remember getting lost in Tokyo after midnight, hearing the call to prayer move across Marrakech at dusk, standing in front of Bosch at the Prado, and watching the Serengeti turn gold before sunrise. Those moments have taught me that the best journeys are not always the most perfectly planned. Sometimes, they begin with knowing enough to wander.
This column is about traveling with intention, curiosity, and a little appetite for the unexpected. I’ll share the addresses worth saving, the people worth knowing, the beautiful detours, the bespoke experiences, and the details that turn a trip into a story.
Because life, like travel, is far more interesting when you know where to look – and are still willing to get lost.
